Smart Materials

Smart materials which change their properties based on an external stimulus can revolutionize the future, and are one of the most important research directions in the development of new materials. Rapidly evolving advances in engineering are opening new windows of opportunity and our teams of interdisciplinary researchers are harnessing their expertise to translate emerging methodologies and technologies to the making of advanced materials needed for applications in civil, mechanical, and electronic engineering, health monitoring, devices, medicine, drug and many others.

Related work at HKU-ZIRI includes the Laboratory for Nanofluids and Thermal Engineering which is an open and inter-disciplinary research center on transport phenomena that unifies energy, nano-, bio- and information technology.

We invite opportunities from national and international research funding, intellectual exchange and collaboration with the aim of achieving world-class excellence in our research.
