This project collaborated with one forklift manufacturer in Zhejiang. This company has encountered the underperformance in warehouse management. Excessive time was consumed in searching and picking the forklift in finished product warehouse, which thus led to great waste in resources and even the postponement of delivery. Efficient location management, including product location management and storage location assignment management, serves as the key to reducing product searching time and traveling time during the process. In this project, this system is mainly providing with the real-time proactive location information of the finished forklifts in the warehouse via IoT technology. After implementation, the searching time and labor force for one target forklift has lowered from 12 minutes/8 person to 2 seconds/no person needed. The cost of labor force and paper has saved more than 780,000 per year.

This solution is designed for realizing the integration of information technology and industrialization. It provides the directions for improving product design, production planning and scheduling, manufacturing process, headquarter enterprise decision-making, e-commerce and value-added services. Currently, this enterprise went through three phases of informatization. The first phase is initial phase in 90’s about CAD, MIS and OA. The second phase in 2000-2008 about PDM/CAPP, Kingdee financial system. Currently, this enterprise is in the third phase, which is the in-depth informatization and full use. This solution combined enterprise’s own characteristics and the ultimate goal of cultivating enterprise headquarters. This project committed three design principle “global design, top-layer design and system design”.
