The iPark as a Service (iPaaS) is a total service that could serve stakeholders involved in the E-commerce logistics park. It consists of three key levels of services: IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. In IaaS, all the heterogeneous logistics objects are virtualized as cloud services. The PaaS level ordinates and sychronizes these services to be capable of fulfilling various tasks in E-commerce logistics. Then the business services in SaaS could share the services from lower level to do high-level decision-making.
Five key innovations will be particularly covered by the integrated platform:
(1) Cloud assets technology will be developed to upgrade assets and resources to interoperate with each other as a Cyber Physical System;
(2) Synchronization and coordination mechanisms and services for multi-functional, multi-level and heterogeneous assets in a typical E-commerce distribution center;
(3) Synchronization tool for supplies of goods from manufacturers to the logistics parks;
(4) Synchronization tool for order deliveries from the parks to customers;
(5) Cloud services for key stakeholders involved in core logistics processes.
Cloud Asset Technologies
This service is for real-time location acquisition of assets and the collection of necessary sensing data in the Ecommerce logistics parks. Through the WLAN / 3G and other means of transmission and the business system within the park to do cross docking. The service is designed to improve project scheduling efficiency, to reduce the searching time cost of manpower, to help enterprises to track asset
during monitoring, production, logistics process tracking, and playing a role in product management.
Cloud Asset - Smart Buffering
Smart buffering in logistics park defines the concept of operational scenario to transport and store products in the distribution center. The effective management of these physical assets is urgently needed. Smart buffering contains three main components, which are cloud forklifts, cloud pallets and cloud storage units. The smart buffering will make the physical assets smart because they can be perceived by others and perceive their own surroundings.
Cloud Asset – Smart Crossdocking
Smart crossdocking refers to applying Autowear and iCoordinator technologies, coordinating mechanisms, synchronization algorithms, and other facilitating services in distribution centres to increase working efficiency, reduce mistakes and enhance customer experiences of crossdocking operations. As an essential process of DC operations, crossdocking takes a vital position in overall performance, while attracting great attentions to upgrade its working pattern. To be more specific, crossdocking consists of arrivals of shipments (inbound shipments), picking of materials according to their destinations (sorting), consolidation and packing for dispatching (outbound shipments). The challenge normally comes from the picking and packing operations.
